A large quantity of prescription medication was stolen, including Morphine and Diamorphine and pharmacy stock was stolen from the Lindsay & Gilmour Pharmacy in Forth Main Street.

Police are appealing for anyone with information about the incident, which took place overnight between Monday, January 5, and Tuesday January 6, to come forward.

DS Bob Bryce made the appeal for witnesses and warned the public about the stolen drugs.

DS Bryce said: “It is of utmost important that we trace those responsible as they have in their possession a significant quantity of medication, which when not prescribed by a doctor, could have dangerous consequences.

“Our officers are carrying out enquiries locally and I would appeal for anyone who saw anything suspicious in the surrounding area during that time period to contact Wishaw CID on the 101 non emergency number. “Alternatively you can call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 where anonymity can be maintained.”
