Drymen Show celebrates 200 years

Farming and local communities came together on Saturday, May 28 at Drymen Show to celebrate 200 years of Strathendrick Agricultural Society, the hosts of the show.

Strathendrick Agricultural Society was formed to help improve the breeding of livestock in the area and 200 years later the crowds were not disappointed with over 500 entries across both the agricultural and light horse sections.

There was a host of other attractions and entertainment on the day too including helicopter rides, a fun fair, live bands, vintage factors, a rabbit and pets tent, schools tent, craft tent, numerous trade stands, 5-a-side football.

On top of this there was main ring entertainment including pig racing and a fantastic display of old implements pulled by working horses demonstrating how farming would have been 200 years ago.

Wendy Gillon, vice chairperson of Drymen Show, said: “The committee would like to thank everyone who came along on the day and who has support the show across the year, every year.

“Here’s to another 200 years.”
