A BARRHEAD writer has had her first book published on paperback — after notching up 150,000 sales electronically.

Daniela Sacerdoti’s first foray into writing was to have her book, Watch Over Me, published as an ebook.

The ebook is a fairly new phenomenon where books are published as electronic downloads for reading on tablets, computer — even on a smartphone.

Such was the success of Daniela’s ebook, it has now been published in paperback.

Watch Over Me is the story of Eilidh Lawson, whose life descends into crisis after a long, but unsuccessful, round of fertility treatments, a
cheating husband and an oppressive family push her to her limits.

She flees to try and find peace of mind at her childhood home in the Highlands.

The story has a supernatural twist to it— as has one of Daniela’s other books: the children’s novel, Really Weird Removals.com, which relates the tale of two children who help their uncle in his removal firm, tackling other-worldly jobs concerning things other than pianos and cupboards.

Is this, The Extra asked her, something which she has a particular interest in?

Daniela said: “Yes, it’s something I like to keep an open mind about.”

E-publishing is something that Daniela also enthuses about as “a really great way to start out” and get your stories read.

The former primary school teacher said that she “always wanted to be a writer”, but her novel Watch Over Me was rejected several times before Black and White Publishing decided to take a chance on it.

It had received a great many downloads and her publisher thought the book could sell in paper form.

Campbell Brown, MD of Black and White, enthused about their new writer.

He said: “Daniela is a brilliant, new author and we’re delighted to be publishing her books.

“Ebooks can help us find an audience for new authors and with more than 150,000 ebook sales to date and more than 300 five-star reviews, Watch Over Me has been a big success.

“Daniela’s work clearly connects with people and the ebook is playing a huge part in finding a readership that loves the author’s work, which will be crucial when we publish her next book.”
