Eaglesham's Swan Inn in line for top award
It’s being seen by regulars as a fair reward for a major transformation of the venue under new ownership this year,.
This involved not only a complete refurbishment but also the launch of a completely new menu (in a new kitchen) and many other innovative and attractive features.

Hide AdDating back to 1832 (when Charles Darwin was starting to make scientific waves), the Swan’s contemporary take on the classic inn theme has won many new customers from around Eaglesham and across East Renfrewshire and beyond.
The classic Sunday roast, exotic global cuisine dishes, an imaginative drinks choice and a continual stream of eyecatching new customer offers attracted serious attention from judges at top Scottish licensed trade publication The Dram.
Now the Inn is in the frame for what many in the trade see as the industry’s equivalent of an Oscar.
A spokesman for the business said: “We will find out next week if we have won this superb award title, and of course we realise we are up against tough competition.

The Dram magazine has identified casual dining as a major consumer trend in Scotland, with ambience, realistic prices, decor and service all seen as vital factors for discerning customers.
The Scottish Bar and Pub Awards (incorporating the Dram Awards) judges will have the difficult decision of deciding whether the Swan is best of an elite quartet which also includes The Anchor Inn at Broughty Herry and the Mill House in Stewarton.
Last week local politicians Paul Masterton MP and Jackson Carlaw MSP flagged up the Inn as an ideal example of an entrepreneurial local trade venture making the most of the potential to be found in Eaglesham - and found the venue “packed” on the day they visited.
