“I just did it for something to do,” said Rosie, “not expecting to win. But, if I do win, it will open so many doors for me. The winner will go on to spend a month in Sanya, in China, preparing for the finals of the Miss World competition that is being held there later this year.”

Rosie graduated from Glasgow Caledonian University in marketing and business law and works as a beauty consultant for a global skincare and make-up brand.

“I can see where I can use my degree within the beauty industry,” said Rosie. “And winning Miss Scotland will definitely help me, if I did win. Even if I don’t, though, I’ve met some really lovely people. The other girls in the contest are so nice. We get on so well and I’m sure we’ll keep in touch after the competition. All those rumours about bitching and coniving just aren’t true.”

Rosie also does volunteer work for a children’s charity, which is another career option.

She said: “A big part of the contest is charity work and I would like to work with children. We get to choose our own charity to act as ambassador for. It’s such an important choice that I haven’t settled yet on which charity I’ll support.”
