Emergency closure for electricty work

An emergency closure of Belvidere Road in Bellshill from its junction with Elmbank Street to Motherwell Road was put in place this morning (Wednesday) to allow Scottish Power to carry out emergency repairs to underground cables.

The Times & Speaker understands the pillar into which the cables go needs upgraded as a matter of priority.

The closure will be enforced until the work is completed, which is expected to be until Friday, and diversions have been put in place.

Vehicles on the west side of the closure wishing to access the east side of the closure should travel south westwards on Belvidere Road, south eastwards on Crossgates and north westwards on (A721) Motherwell Road to the east side of the closure.

Vehicles on the east side of the closure wishing to access the west side of the closure should travel north westwards on (A721) Motherwell Road, westwards on (A721) Main Street, south westwards on (B7070) Hamilton Road, south eastwards on Crossgates and then north eastwards on Belvidere Road to the east side of the closure.
