Kindness in Condorrat praised

An entire vanload of warm clothing and shoes has been collected in Condorrat for refugees enduring freezing temperatures in Serbian camps.

Cumbernauld Supporting Refugees staged its first locally-based clothing drive in the town this year, choosing Condorrat Parish Church once again, as an uplift point.

Volunteers from Glasgow The Caring City pulled up to collect the items – which will be taken to makeshift camps in the Balkans.

The charity has admitted that the donations are especially welcome as it supplies of warm clothing are dwindling .

CSR’s Julie Hepburn said: “Once again the people of Cumbernauld have shown their generosity. Thanks to Condorrat Parish Church for hosting the collection.

“We’ve collected about 20 tonnes of aid between our collections in Cumbernauld and Kilsyth over the last year and a half – and it’s saved many lives.”
