“Most of the pond is still pretty frozen but clearly people have thrown and dumped rubbish in the pond.

“Terrible conditions for the local swan and wildlife population. My kids were shocked that people would do this.“

Thomas Glen, Depute Chief Executive at East Dunbartonshire Council said: “We will arrange for an inspection of the pond to remove the litter once the ice has thawed, having had it
drawn to our attention by the Herald.

“It is very disappointing to see such littering and we would encourage residents to report any incidences directly to our Customer Services team on 0300 1234510. We would remind the public of the dangers caused to local wildlife from discarded litter.”
