Queenzieburn's Alex: 'slimming has given me a new lease of life'
Alex Black was referred to Weight Watchers by his GP because of health problems he was experiencing at almost 24 stone.
“I have heart trouble and take Warfarin,” he said. “And when I was out with my good lady in the supermarket I had to hang on to the trolley. I was taunted by kids who called me ‘a big fat man’,” said Alex, who also had to use a walking stick to get around.

“I have a whole new lease of life now,” he said. “I spend a lot of time out digging in the garden and walk three miles every day. I’m also returning to work as a painter and decorator.
“It just goes to show it’s never too late to get your weight sorted out.”
Alex has already lost well over six stones and is well on his way to getting his 100 lb certificate.

“I’d like to give a special mention to my daughter Ann-Marie Black who has been a huge support throughout this process.”
Alex hopes he can inspire others to seek help.
“I’d be delighted to talk to anyone about losing weight, Don’t bring any cream cakes though, I don’t eat those.”
