Woodfarm High School flies Green Flag again

Awarded by Eco-Schools, which is part of the Keep Scotland Beautiful organisation, the programme encourages schools to embark on a meaningful path towards improving the environment in both the school and the local community.

Green Flag status is only awarded to schools which comply with Eco-Schools’ Seven-Step program, and is the highest award level that can be reached, and is an international standard for sustainable schools.

Woodfarm High School Headteacher Nicola MacGlashan, said: “We are delighted with the results of the Eco-Schools assessment, which successfully resulted in Woodfarm High School’s re-certification of their highest award, the Green Flag.

“We are looking forward to another exciting school year and are busy planning and developing new eco-friendly projects, which will benefit all our pupils and the wider community.”

By being part of this initiative, pupils from Woodfarm High School have joined millions of children from 67 countries, in creating change for the benefit of future generations.

The re-certification of the Green Flag status for the school, is the culmination of two years hard work by proactively and successfully completing three required topics which included Litter, Biodiversity and Global Citizenship.

This ranged from anti-litter initiatives to the development of a community garden at Eastwood allotments and joint work with local primary schools.
