Excitement is brewing for the Muir Festival

The beverage has been brewed as part of this year’s Thomas Muir Festival - celebrating ‘Local History, Art and Culture’ between 13 and 24 November.

The special Thomas Muir Ale has been organised by The Avenue in Bishopbriggs which is hosting a range of events as part of the festival - including live music, a beer and wine-tasting inspired by Muir’s travels (19 November)

Now in its fourth year, the Thomas Muir Festival is working with over 40 local groups and businesses across East Dunbartonshire to deliver a unique community festival for all the family.

Jimmy Watson, chair of the Friends of Thomas Muir, said: “We are pleased to be able to offer such a diverse range of events as part of the 2014 festival - making it the biggest and best yet.

“The Thomas Muir Ale is a great way to raise awareness of the festival and I would like to thank The Avenue for all their efforts to support this year’s programme.”

Councillor Alan Moir, Convener of Development and Regeneration at the Council, said, “I am delighted to support the Thomas Muir Festival and launch the special Thomas Muir Ale as part of this year’s events - this is just one of a number of innovative new elements in this year’s celebration of the democratic champion with strong links to East Dunbartonshire

The Thomas Muir Ale will be available for a limited time only, but if it proves popular it may become a house speciality at The Avenue.

The 2014 festival has a wide and varied menu of music, concerts, art, school theatre, walks, a canal cruise, theatre, panto, kids’ activities, local history talks, participation events and much more.
