Family fun planned for Armed Forces Day

The free, family-friendly event is on June 21, aimed at honouring the armed forces and offering a taste of military life.

The flag will be raised at the pavilion at noon, followed by a military parade of acting and retired servicemen and women alongside pipe and military bands.

From there, there’s a pop-up mess, climbing wall and assault courses, as well as vintage vehicles and costumes on show, military model boats, an historical re-enactment and wartime dancing — as well as a chance to meet local veterans.
