Fashion show fundraiser to help beat cancer

A GLAM ladies lunch and fashion show in aid of local cancer research charity The White Lily Fund has been

organised for Sunday, March 17.

The ladies afternoon at the plush Crowne Plaza Hotel in Glasgow is a great opportunity to aid a truly worthwhile cause while having a great time.

Lily balls which stopped when the committee reached the target of a £1m raised in 2010.

BBC weather woman Judith Ralston will compere the fashion show.

She said: “I am honoured and delighted to be supporting the coming White Lily fashion show, it’s the least I can do to show my support for such a good cause - and a local one at that.”

The Beatson, Stobhill and West of Scotland Breast screening centres use diagnostic equipment bought by White Lily and the research work funded by the charity has also helped save many lives.

The afternoon kicks off at 1pm with bubbly and many exhibitors stalls followed by a delicious lunch. A raffle follows with a few entertainment surprises thrown in.

Charity founder and president, Angela Bruno, who is pictured with Judith and committee member Pat Tollin, said: “People sadly continue to be diagnosed with cancer so there is a need to continue to fundraise to help beat this menacing disease. Our committee is delighted to be asked to stage another fundraiser.”

The Friends of White Lily continues to fundraise for diagnostic and treatment equipment with coffee mornings, dinner and other events.
