The new £11.5m Lenzie Meadow Primary School and nursery is due to open its doors to pupils on Thursday, August 18.

But one local woman contacted the Herald after visiting the site at Moss Road last week.

She said: “I am led to believe the new school is unlikely to be finished for the term starting in August.

“Apparently, some of the site is flooded.”

East Dunbartonshire Council boss Thomas Glen, Depute Chief Executive, Place, Neighbourhood & Corporate Assets, told the Herald he was “aware of concerns”.

However, he added: “We continue to be assured by our development partner and contractors that the school will be delivered to the Council in advance of the new school term.”

Lenzie Meadow is part of East Dunbartonshire Council’s Primary School Improvement Programme (PSIP) and is being built on the existing Lenzie Moss Primary School site.

Work has been continuing over the summer.
