Find out how long Boclair Road will be closed

Residents have contacted us this morning (Tuesday, January 26) to say that the closure of Boclair Road in Bearsden has been causing chaos for commuters.

The road, which is the main route from Bearsden to Balmore, Torrance, Kirkintilloch and Bishopbriggs, has been closed from Milngavie Road to Boclair Crescent to allow Scottish Water to install a new connection for a new fire hydrant on Boclair Road, adjacent to the new Boclair House Hotel.

Diversions are in place but residents have complained that alternative routes cannot cope with the additional traffic as there are build-outs on many of roads, including Rannoch Drive.

One woman who lives in Endrick Drive, Bearsden, said: “It was total chaos this morning on my way to work.

“It was gridlock at one point as many people were also taking their children to school.

“The build-outs and parked cars made it more dangerous for everyone because no-one knew whether they should give way.

“People were also stopping on keep clear signs which didn’t help matters.”

The road is due to re-open at 6pm this Friday (January 29).
