First round of Clyde Walkathon raises £9k

More than £9,000 was raised for Chest Heart & Stoke Scotland (CHSS) after the first round of the Clyde Walkathon last Sunday morning.

It was estimated that around 120 people took part in the event over a variety of distances from 3km up to 12km.

The determined walkers of all ages gathered at CHSS West of Scotland office at the Hub in Pacific Quay for the start at 8.45am and were welcomed by the Health Market in the Heart of the Hub which ran in tandem with the event.

Event Organiser and CHSS Fundraising Officer West Andrea McIntyre, said: “I am delighted that the ‘Round the Clyde Walkathon’ event was attended and enjoyed by so many. Considering all we ask for is a small registration fee of £10, it’s been really touching to have our participants raise so much money which will help those in the area living with chest, heart and stroke illness.

“Thank you to all those who took part and sponsored our wonderful walkers! Plus our heartfelt thanks to all the volunteers who helped the day run so smoothly, and all the local businesses that supported the day and made the Health Market such a fun, welcoming and really informative place. It’s been a great successful first event and we can’t wait to come back next year and do even more.”
