First to get fivestar inspection

WHITELEES Primary was the first school in Scotland to receive a five star inspection from Scottish education watchdogs and is a big favourite for placement requests, even from outwith the authority.

Here we met dynamic head teacher Ann Kay - and the P6s who were en route to clear up the Maple Burn with the green zeal the eco school is famed for.

Divvying up pieces of scrummy fruit as a maths task helped P4s raise their game while promoting healthy snacking into the bargain. And P5s too improved their head for figures via a game of cards - Fraction Action Snap.

Whitelees, Cumbernauld, is big on outdoor learning and has a spacious enough playground where P7s measured the diameter of circles and the P2 and 3s looked for the first signs of spring in the haven of the pretty nature garden.

Learning about the high-paced world of the emergency services has made life that bit more interesting for P2 - and is providing some early career inspiration too.

Bet you didn’t know that Whitelees has its very own post office - which these P1s have given their wholehearted stamp of approval. It too is improving their numeracy skills to the letter!
