Fitting send off for former Lord-Lieutenant

The area’s former Lord-Lieutenant, Guy Clark, was given a special East Renfrewshire send-off after retiring from the role after 12 years.

The Lord-Lieutenant of Renfrewshire, which covers Inverclyde, Renfrewshire and East Renfrewshire, carries out local duties on behalf of the Crown.

He is responsible for arrangements for Royal Visits to the area, and represents Her Majesty when called to do so.

He also takes an active interest in the business, industrial and social life of East Renfrewshire, Renfrewshire and Inverclyde and seeks to encourage a spirit of co-operation in the voluntary services and benevolent organisations.

Mr Clark took on the role in 2007 and has performed countless duties throughout the area during his time in the role.

To recognise his dedicated service, Mr Clark was presented with commemorative East Renfrewshire glasses by Provost Jim Fletcher.

Provost Jim Fletcher said: “I was delighted to have the opportunity to pass on my thanks to Guy for all his tireless work during his 12 years as Lord-Lieutenant of Renfrewshire.

“We all wish Guy and his wife health and happiness after retiring from this important role.”
