Flood chaos closes Campsie Road

Keith Scrimgeour, Neighbourhood Network Manager, said: “The heavy rain has been driving leaves and other debris to gullies and drains resulting in them becoming blocked.

“Our crews have been working to clear these blockages as quickly as possible. Once the debris is removed the water subsides quickly.

“Campsie Road in Kirkintilloch has been closed since the early hours following flooding from the nearby River Kelvin.

“A vehicle has become stuck in the flood water and will be removed when it is safe to do so. With further rain forecast it is difficult to predict when the flooding will subside and the road will re-open.

“We will update our twitter and facebook accounts with information as we get it.”
