Residents are invited to view the proposals, which have been drawn up by East Dunbartonshire Council following historical flooding in the area, at Bearsden Academy on Monday, December 5 from 6.30 until 8.30pm.

Proposed work includes replacing the existing footbridge and installing a trash screen to stop blockages at the culvert downstream from the bridge. Low level walls and flood route paths, where water can be directed away from properties, are also being proposed.

Thomas Glen, depute chief executive - place, neighbourhood & corporate assets said: “We are keen to hear what people think about these designs, which have been drawn up following the determination of the existing drainage system, as well as the analysis of flood studies.

“Flooding can be devastating to residents and businesses, and it is important that we explore all available options that will reduce the effects of it on communities.

“The aim is to tackle and minimise flooding issues whilst helping to make the area more user friendly at the same time.”
