Footie action for good cause at college

Cumbernauld College students have been doing their part to raise awareness of Suicide Prevention Week.

Student president Julia Fitzgerald successfully organised a team of students to take part in a five-a-side tournament to raise awareness of the good cause.

The seven students travelled to Ravenscraig Regional Sports Facility in Motherwell to take part in the tournament on Wednesday, September 11.

Julia said: “Cumbernauld College is committed to raising awareness of Suicide Prevention Week in North Lanarkshire.

“It is important that we acknowledge this problem and make people in the community aware that there are various preventative measures and support groups on hand to help.”

Meanwhile, a team of coaches from Malta have been giving Cumbernauld College students a lesson or two on the beautiful game.

The NC Football Performance students welcomed five professional coaches from St Andrew’s FC at Luxol Sports Centre to the Broadwood campus for a week of training.
