Footie fans get on bikes for good cause

FOUR footie mad Scotland supporters are set to embark on the challenge of a lifetime, cycling from Glasgow to London for charity.

Gareth Holmes (45), Rory Holmes(18), Andrew Hossack (19) and Andrew McBurnie (17), who are all from Kilsyth, will be taking on the marathon challenge of cycling the 447 miles between Hampden Park, Glasgow, and Wembley Stadium, London, to raise funds for the Tartan Army Children’s Charity.

The lads, who are all Scotland football fans, will be taking part in the challenge this August.

They came up with the idea during an 18 and a half hour bus journey back from the national team’s game in Luxembourg which took place in November and saw Scotland beat the home team 2-1 in a friendly.

The group intend on setting off on their bikes from the national stadium on Friday, August 9. They will cover around 90 miles a day before arriving at Wembley on Tuesday, August 13.
