Among his comrades, he was one of the lucky ones.

Now, the hard-as-nails ex-Guards lance-sergeant, who was earmarked for the super-tough SAS, is showing that, apart from his Carluke partner Candice and their little daughter, he has at least one VERY soft and vulnerable spot – for the mates who fought beside him but who couldn’t cope once the shooting and killing stopped.

He will ‘yomp’, Falklands-style, from Edinburgh Castle to Glasgow City Chambers on Armed Forces Day, June 28.

Simon aims to raise £1000 in sponsorship and has a Just Giving page via the link Simonlister 1.

He said: “It’s been 16 years since I did any serious marching and I like a smoke and a beer. I just hope I make it.”

After even just a brief chat with Simon Lister, you’d bet your house that he WILL!
