Former school sites for council housing

Robertson Construction Group will begin work on a £1.5 million project to build 16 new homes on the old Tannochside Primary site in Oakdene Avenue during the summer.

Plans to build 15 homes and 30 homes respectively on the sites of the former New Stevenston Primary and Calder Primary in Motherwell are both at the design development stage with work expected to start within 18 months.

Each site will contain a mix of cottage flats and family homes, and is part of the council’s current £172 million investment programme to build 1,150 new homes.

So far 356 homes have been built, with a further 25 due for completion on the site of the former Glencairn Tower in Motherwell this month.

In addition work is expected to start at ten other sites across North Lanarkshire over the next 12-18 months to build 221 homes, with a contribution being received from the Scottish Government towards the development costs at each.

Signs are now in place on the sites so residents know what’s planned.
