Former student Kieran was crash victim

The driver who died following a crash on the M74 near Bothwell was a former Motherwell College student.

Kieran Millar, from Lanark, was 21 and worked as a labourer with a roughcasting company.

He was driving a blue Ford Fiesta south when he apparently lost control shortly after 11pm on Saturday.

It happened between Bothwell services and the Raith interchange. His vehicle crossed the central reservation, collided with a lamppost and overturned.

Mr Millar was taken to Monklands District General Hospital where he died a short time after admission.

Sergeant Craig McDonald, of the divisional road policing Unit in Motherwell, said: “We are trying to establish the circumstances of this tragic incident and I‘d like to speak to any witnesses who have not already spoken to police
