Forth Gala Day 2015 Slideshow

THE radiant smile of Forth Gala Queen Abbey Gibson, a P7 Forth Primary School pupil, was fitting for how successful the big day was.

Abbey was crowned at the White House in Recreation Park by Crowning Lady Karin Hynes, on a day which featured a spectacular procession of floats and individual entries.

“Abbey was fantastic,” said Forth Gala treasurer Julie Steele. “She had a lovely smile on her face all day and looked very happy.

“We had dry weather during the crowning ceremony and the procession was excellent with a large number of entries.”

Julie said that there had been an impressive motorised entry of four floats in the procession, well up on the previous year’s total of one. Eventual winner of the overall top prize was Dr Seuss, by Charlene Campbell and Friends of Braehead Village.

Abbey’s smartly dressed gala court was headed by Herald Andrew Rennie.

And a specially invited guest on gala day was chairman Alan Morton – a cousin of the Crowning Lady – who himself had been Herald way back in 1973.

The entertainment included a wrestling show, face painting and samba band.

Freelance photographer Alan Rennie was on hand to capture the action for the Gazette and his pictures are featured in our slideshow, created for readers by Johnston Press communities hub deputy editor Julie Currie. Enjoy!
