Police are appealing for information and witnesses following a robbery at a convenience store in Law last night (Wednesday, April 3).

At around 7pm, a 34-year-old man was working alone within Nad’s Store, 1 Station Road, when a man entered.

The intruder demanded money whilst threatening the store worker with a large knife. He then stole a four figure sum of money and walked out of the store.

Although the 34-year-old victim was not injured, he has been left extremely shaken by the attack.

The suspect is described as aged between 20 and 30 years of age and of medium build and around 5ft 10 inches in height. He was wearing a mid-brown jacket with the hood up, and dark trousers.

Detective Constable Rob Andrews, of Lanarkshire CID, is dealing with this inquiry.

He said: “This was a particularly frightening experience for the man concerned, who was simply working within the store when the suspect entered.

“We’re continuing extensive inquiries into this incident. We know that the suspect walked calmly out of the store, and turned right, towards the area of Lawmuir Road.

“This road leads to a dead end, with open fields, so it is possible the man made off through the open fields.

“After studying CCTV, we also know that a man and a woman walked past the suspect at the entrance of the store, just before entering.

“I would like to speak to this couple, as they may have important information that could assist with our inquiry.

“I would like to speak to anyone who may have been in the area at the time of the incident, particularly anyone who may have seen the suspect hanging around the shop before the incident occurred or anyone who may have seen him making his escape towards the open fields near Lawmuir Street.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Lanakrshire CID on 101. Alternatively please contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 where information can be passed anonymously.
