Four women seriously injured in road crash

Police are appealing for witnesses to a crash at Glasgow Fort Shopping Centre on Friday in which four women were seriously injured.

At around 6.50pm a red Suzuki Swift collided with the kerb and safety barrier on the M8, opposite the Fort, before rolling on to the grass verge.

The 66 year-old driver and three other passengers aged 67, 59 and 56, were all badly injured.

One lane of the motorway was closed for several hours to allow Police Officers to carry out an investigation.

Police Constable Thomas Lynch, from the Road Policing Complex at Helen Street, Govan, said: “Police Officers are carrying out enquiries to piece together the exact circumstances of the incident and would appeal to anybody who may have seen the car prior to the crash taking place to come forward.

“The M8 would have been extremely busy at that time of night, with people heading home from work or perhaps going to and from the Glasgow Fort Shopping Centre.

“We would ask anyone with any information to contact the Road Policing Complex via 101, quoting incident number 3099 of Friday 1 December 2017.”
