Fresh plea to find man (83) missing from Bishopbriggs

A fresh plea has been made to help trace an 83-year-old man missing from his home in Bishopbriggs for more than a week.

Matthew Bowie was last seen by a neighbour on the morning of either Saturday, January 23 or Sunday, January 24 outside his home at Gleneagles Gardens.

As the Herald went to press on Monday, Mr Bowie’s anxious family was preparing to make a public appeal for help.

Police were also carrying out an underwater search of the canal. Mr Bowie, who has never gone missing 
before, is known to frequent the canal path towards Cadder Road in Bishopbriggs, the cafe at Lambhill Stables and 
Cadder Church Hall.

He is described as fairly fit, 5ft 8 inches in height, with a slim build and white/grey receding hair.

He is normally clean shaven and usually wears dark trousers, a shirt and a jumper.
