Friends reunite on facebook 30 years on

Now arrangements are underway for a face-to-face reunion with former classmates travelling from as far as the US and Australia.

Alison Dunlop and Lesley (Bennet) Gourlay, both schoolfriends who attended Holyrood secondary school, set up a facebook page calling for other former pupils to contribute and were astonished at the response.

Alison decided this would be a golden opportunity for a reunion as many former pupils from the class of 1977–1983 will be turning 50 around this time.

She told The Extra: “Almost instantly, people started joining the group which now has more than 100 members.

“Many friendships have been renewed since the facebook page was set up in October last year.”

Mary Greene who lives in Boston and Jacqueline (Caffrey) McKeating from Australia met with others while home over the Christmas period.
