Fun day with a serious agenda

Building Futures provides support to people at any stage of their recovery from substance abuse; from those still using substances, to those looking to develop their recovery and get involved in their communities.

The programme operates from multiple locations across North Lanarkshire offering a range of interventions, but each recovery plan will be tailored to suit individual needs.

Service users will be offered CBT counselling, group work programme, 1:1 peer mentoring, SMART meetings, recovery culture activities and linkage with community groups.

Building Futures will also provide support to family members and loved ones affected by substance misuse through Community Re-enforcement and Family Training (CRAFT), Strengthening Families Programme, PlayWay and Families and Loved Ones Accessing Mutual and Emotional Support (FLAMES) group.

The fun day on from 11am-3pm near the Watersports Centre and is open to anyone who is in recovery from addiction, mental ill health or been through or accessing recovery services, as well as their friends and family.

Phoenix Futures Scotland has teamed up with the RSPB, Forestry Commission Scotland, Clyde and Avon Valley Landscape partnership and the ranger service from North and South Lanarkshire Councils for the event and activities include drum workshop, historical walks, tree dressing, willow weaving, guided walks and green woodworking.

Organisations such as Barnardo’s and Scottish Association for Mental Health will also be on hand to promote their services.
