Fundraiser gives dog charity a £3200 cash boost

There were puppies, crafts and spring flowers as hundreds of people turned out to meet Glasgow's youngest trainee assistance dogs recently.

More than 300 people and dogs, including Visit Scotland’s Ambassadog George the golden retriever, attended the Big Glasgow Bluebell Walk and Fun Day which raised thousands for assistance dog charity Canine Partners.

Also among the participants at the event – which was held in Pollockshaws Burgh Hall – was long distance runner Dion Leonard from Glasgow and pup Gobi, who he met while completing the Gobi March a 155-mile desert ultra-marathon in China.

But the most popular walkers were four young pups who are training to become amazing assistance dogs for Canine Partners – four-month-old Tamia and Tessa and three-month-old siblings Ursa and Urban.

The pups are currently living with some the charity’s volunteer puppy parents who are helping them begin to learn basic skills which will help them assist with everyday tasks and change people’s lives forever.

The event raised more than £3200 which will help the charity continue training its amazing dogs.
