Gaelic school enrolment on the up
GAELIC INCREASE: The number of children in Cumbernauld and Kilsyth enrolling in Gaelic mainstream education at primary 1 has increased.
North Lanarkshire Council reports that the local Gaelic education unit at Condorrat Primary School has increased its roll fom 161 to 166 in 2012-2013.
The national average is a six per cent increase and governing body Bord na Gaidlig wants to to double the number of pupils taking Gaelic-medium education from 400 to 800 by 2017.
