Provost Carmichael said: “I was absolutely delighted to be back at Armed Forces Day.

“It was great to see people come out in such numbers to join in the event and I’m sure everyone had a wonderful time whilst showing support towards our armed forces.”

Glasgow marked the occasion this week too, with the flag being flown from city chambers on Monday morning.

The Glasgow event takes place at George Square on Saturday (June 27). There, lord provost Sadie Docherty will welcome veterans, serving officers and visitors for the annual parade and family activities.
