Glasgow cycle hire scheme is extended south

The People Make Glasgow-branded bikes were launched at George Square in June, allowing citygoers to rent their transport for the day and see the city by cycle.

Pollokshields councillor David Meikle contacted Glasgow city council’s land and environmental services about the lack of southside sites, prompting a promise of new bike hire locations at the Gorbals, Pollokshields East and West rail stations, Cessnock subway station, Shawlands Cross and Govan Cross.

Councillor Meikle told The Extra: “When the cycle hire scheme was launched I criticised the council for having just one site on the southside. I’m delighted the council has agreed and pleased that the southside is now going to benefit.”
