Glasgow Tower open for business

The Glasgow Science Centre has announced that the Glasgow Tower will reopen on July 19.

The 127 metre-high tower — the only structure on earth capable of rotating 260 degrees — has been refurbished to a cost of £1.8 million, including new glass lifts, an interactive visitor experience area providing a history of Glasgow and new technology inside the viewing cabin, allowing visitors to zoom in on places of interest.

Dr Stephen Breslin, chief executive of the science centre, said: “We are excited to return Glasgow Tower back to the city. There has been a significant investment in the refurbishments to ensure Glasgow Tower is a must-visit location.”

The tower reopens next Saturday, and entry is £4.95 — to book, call 420 5000.

Access will be limited during Commonwealth Games dates, and the tower will close for winter on November 2.
