Gold standard for Eaglesham jeweller

Eaglesham jewellery designer Alan P. Fulton has been made a fellow of the Institute of Professional Goldsmiths — the highest honour bestowed by the organisation.

His appointment makes him the only fellow in Scotland, and is the culmination of years of hard work designing and making jewellery for customers local, national and international.

Alan told The Extra: “The key to my success is getting as close to whatever end product is in the client’s mind.

“Through thorough analysis of their demands I work diligently to achieve a finished piece that surpasses the client’s expectations.

“It has always been my way to get as close to perfection as is possible. The Institute inspected my work with a high powered microscope and it seems they liked what they saw.”

Alan P. Fulton graduated from Glasgow School of Art of Art in 1980 and was subsequently given a distinction award from the Licentiate of the Society of Designer Craftsmen.

He gained valuable experience with two Glasgow based companies and started his own business in 1998 in Eaglesham, where his studio stands today.

With the advent of the internet came orders from across the world, and the East Ren designer continues to send his work to clients from as far afield as the USA, South Africa, and Australia.

Alan added: “I’m grateful to the Institute for giving me this award and also extend my gratitude to all my customers. I look forward to serving the community further by providing jewellery that really means something special to the recipient.”
