Kirsty Soutar, Katie MacLeod and Stuart Burns, who all attended Lenzie Academy, travelled to Edinburgh to receive their certificates from the scheme’s patron and founder - HRH The Duke of Edinburgh.

The Gold Award Presentation (GAP) was a celebration and recognition of Kirsty, Katie and Stuart’s achievements in completing a series of challenges.

The group worked tirelessly through the five sections of theprogrammes over 18 months to achieve the award.

Their activities included volunteering within the community while learning new and developing existing skills.

Throughout their DofE, the three were able to prove themselves to be determined, motivated and hard working individuals.

And the three award winners were quick to pay tribute to their former school, saying: “This achievement could not happen without the help of the DofE co-ordinators at Lenzie Academy - Andy Ion and James Cameron - as well as the rest of the teaching staff who help to run the programme.
