Good Causes appeal for award boost

EAST Renfrewshire Good Causes has issued an appeal for votes in a bid to secure much-needed charity cash.

The local charity — founded by Newton Mearns man Russell Macmillan following a life-saving double transplant — helps the area’s most vulnerable with whatever odd jobs are needed.

ERGC is in the running for a Bank of Scotland Community Fund award, with first and second places receiving £3,000 each and third and fourth £300.

Russell said: “Votes from Extra readers will mean more resources for our frontline workers - teachers, health visitors, care workers etc — as it is these professionals who apply to ERGC for additional goods outwith what is available from the state.

“We’re appealing for help in winning the final, to ensure the £3,000 donation is spread across all the different good causes within East Ren.

“Readers only need to click on the link, enter East Ren Good Causes and vote - it’s very simple and costs nothing.”

Voting is open until November 1, and you can support your local group by visiting www.bankofscotland.co.uk/communityfund, texting VOTE KZPA to 82332, or popping into a local BoS branch.
