Great Games bake off raises money for Radiate

CATHCART residents were baking up a storm recently for the Great Radiate Cathcart Bake Off.

The event was organised to raise funds for the Cathcart Youth Ministry Partnership — an after-school programme from Cathcart Baptist, Cathcart Trinity and Cathcart United Free churches — and the timely theme was Commonwealth cakes.

Judges included Glasgow South MP Tom Harris, Cathcart MSP James Dornan and councillor Emma Gillan, and their decision was unanimous in favour of Ruth Scott’s Commonwealth swimming pool cake.

The people’s choice winner was Hannah Pearson, whose cake was shaped like a medal podium.

Senior development worker Cara Wightman told The Extra: “It was a great morning overall, with 15 entries and over £310 raised. A big thank you goes to our judges.”
