Hats off to Lenzie mum's career change

A Lenzie mum who took evening class in millinery has fulfilled her passion and is now selling bespoke hats she describes as '˜youthful and wearable.'

It has been quite a career ­change for Stephanie Nulty (36) whose job working on websites GeoMapping has given way to a more creative side, with her even presenting a summer collection of wearable headpieces.

Stephanie took the evening classes at the City of Glasgow College and her passion has blossomed with her selling hats at small artisan outlets.

The mum ­of ­two wants to give women the chance to wear hats that are practical, yet fashionable for the Her wearable hats and fascinators are all handmade to order, catering to a variety of needs and budgets, and designed for customers looking for uniquely fashionable headpieces.

Stephanie has since founded Stephanie Gallen Millinery - her maiden name was Gallen. She said: “My aim for Stephanie Gallen Millinery is to be the go­to milliner for the hat lover. I make fashionable pieces with an artisan edge for the event go­er with an appetite for something different and modern.

“Millinery should be accessible, fun and is starting to shake off its traditional past.

“I aim to make my hats very wearable ­ but without being boring. So people can top their outfit off with something that makes them elegant and sophisticated without feeling like they’ve gone over the top.”
