Heat is on for curry contest

GLASGOW is cooking up a storm in a bid to bring the Curry Capital of Britain title back.

It’s the only city in the UK to have won four times, in 2002, 2003, 2006 and 2010, and was runner up in 2004, 2005, 2007, 2011 and 2012.

The public has until August 2 to nominate their favourite Indian restaurant, and the four most popular will represent Glagow for the competition final, in October.

Lord provost Sadie Docherty said: “Glasgow loves curry and we are in it to win it this year. To be the Curry Capital of Britain during the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games would be a real coup for the city’s restaurants.”

Letters have now been sent out to eateries across the city, encouraging each to tell their customers.

To vote for your favourite restaurant, visit www.glasgow.gov.uk, email [email protected] or write to Curry Capital of Britain, PO Box 416, Surbiton, Surry KT1 9BJ.
