Helping hand with weight loss challenge

35 per cent of Brits revealed that their New Year’s resolution was to lose weight in 2015 but, with 32 per cent of people admitting to breaking their resolutions by the end of January, many may need some assistance in 2016!

Help may be at hand this January as Nuffield Health gyms are hosting free ‘Meet our Experts’ weight management events, designed to encourage people to change the way they think about their weight and help them to stick to their new year’s resolutions.

A series of experts will be on hand at the event, which starts on January 18 and is open to members and non-members.

The project will provide tips on the most suitable ways to become a healthy weight and maintain it, looking at everything from portion control, dietary changes, professional support and the most effective types of exercise.

Henrietta McGourty, Clinical lead for Nutrition, explains: “At the beginning of each year we see so many people who may set themselves up for a fall by trying to lose too much weight too quickly.

“I encourage them to make sure they are doing it for the right reasons, in a way that will create long-term healthier lifestyle habits rather than a trying unsustainable ‘diets’ that provide quick results but can, in some cases, have a negative impact on their health.”

The weight management ‘Meet Our Experts’ event is the first in a series of events which will be running across the country throughout the year.
