

The programme has allowed hundreds of southside pupils to travel to the Auschwitz-Birkenau complex to gain first-hand knowledge of the Holocaust.
Georgia Lanigan, a former pupil at St Ninian’s high, went on the trip and has since returned to the school to share her experiences.

The 17-year-old said: “The organisation run the trip so well, making you experience so much in a day.
“They really manage to humanise the experience for you”
Stewart Maxwell MSP told The Extra: “It is imperative that future generations continue to learn from the lessons of the Second World War and remember the victims of the Holocaust.”
Eastwood MSP Ken Macintosh , who hosted a reception in the Scottish Parliament last week for the Holocaust Educational Trust, added: “I was given the opportunity to visit Auschwitz-Birkenau through an educational programme some 10 years ago.
“Their work is essential in ensuring the Holocaust has a permanent place in our collective memory.”
