Holyrood now involved in future of Cumbernauld town centre and your views are needed

An influential public body has been brought on board to look at the future of Cumbernauld town centre and locals are being invited to play their part.

The organisation in question which is run by the Scottish Government, is Scotland’s Town Partnerships.

And it is holding a public meeting on Tuesday, October 4 at New Town Hall at 7.30pm.

It was brought on board by Jamie Hepburn MSP and MP Stuart McDonald.

As a start-up point the two Scottish Nationalists have launched a survey as a means of shaping the process - and are hoping that a high number of residents will complete it

In a joint statement, Mr Hepburn and Mr McDonald said: “The challenges facing the centre are well documented, including issues like parking, bus services and diversity of retailers.

“If the town is to meet these challenges, all the owners and organisations responsible need to work together to build a vibrant future.

“STP have expertise in advising towns how to revitalise their town centres.

“They are happy to help Cumbernauld start this process and advise all of those with an interest in Cumbernauld town centre on how to start developing an action plan.”
