Home insulation scheme slated by Carnwath home owner

C In recent editions the Gazette has published stories of how some residents in Carstairs Junction have been baffled at the ongoing external insulation cladding scheme there, not knowing who is getting the heat-saving work done and who isn’t and what the selection process was.

Now, a similar situation has cropped up in Carnwath with, again, some homes being part of an upgrade insulation programme while others – sometimes neighbours just through the wall in a two house block – aren’t.

To add to the confusion, unlike Carstairs Junction where South Lanarkshire Council was identified as co-ordinating the scheme, no-one seems to know WHO is responsible for the works going on in Carnwath!

Malcolm Jamieson, of Couthally Gardens, Carnwath, said: “Last year I was approached twice by different companies, the names of which I was never told, offering this insulation to which I agreed.

“Then, at the beginning of February, a load of scaffolding arrived unannounced outside my neighbour’s home and was duly erected; two weeks ago, they started fitting the insulation panels.

“I have not received any correspondence or been visited by anyone regarding what is or is not happening now to my house.

“The man that came to see me last year showed me pictures of the finished houses and they looked really smart, so, I am going to be left with a house looking like a slum against the refurbished house next door.“
