New Lanark PTA will be upstairs in the Tolbooth with Knightly Gaming, hosting a family board game day, with mulled wine, mince pie or shortbread, face-painting, tattoos and more.

A 24in Panasonic Viera HD TV is the prize in a raffle.

Downstairs in the Tolbooth, Royal Burgh of Lanark Community Council will be hosting more fun and games, with a Christmas flea market.

Lanark Rotary Club will be there selling boxes of Border Biscuits and Lanark mugs, and there will be many other stalls from local organisations selling their wares.

At around 2pm, the equestrian centre will ride through the town, with horses and riders dressed in their festive finest, and Santa will stop in the High Street to receive gifts to be passed on to the New Beginnings Christmas appeal.

The festive taste event is part of Lanark Winterfest, offering a fun-filled day for the whole family to enjoy.

“It’s a fun day, involving other organisations, promoting and encouraging local folks and visitors alike, to our town,” said Eleanor McLean, who organises the event on behalf of the town’s community council.

“It is a taster to sample the delights of Lanark.”

Businesses taking part are Alan Elliott, Butchers, Wellgate, Holland & Barrett, including New Lanark Ice Cream, Carraghers (Castlegate), Lidl (Castlegate), Clarke the Baker (High Street), Gregg the Baker, Bargain Bs and the Clydesdale Inn.

“Drop in and sample their products, and look out for discounts and special offers,” said Eleanor.
