Housing plan for former Lanark transport depot

Part of the need for affordable rented accommodation in Lanark could be met soon by a plan to create 32 new homes in the town’s Hyndford Road.

Announcing the closure of the depot earlier this year, a company spokesman said that there had been a major overhaul of the Wallace network due to a new partnership with DHL Supply Chain Ltd.

The proposal being put forward by the association, set up, along with other such organisations, to provide new social housing after it was made financially difficult for councils to fulfil that role. is to construct “eight dwellings and 24 flats” with associated car parking and landscaping.

Although they have other developments in Douglas and Lesmshagow in Clydesdale, this is the association’s first in Lanark.

Construction is scheduled, should permission be granted, during the Association’s 2016/17 programme.
