Housing plans aired in Condorrat and Cumbernauld Village

Controversial plans to bring a housing development to the rural end of Condorrat are back on the agenda

The land earmarked for development runs east and West of Airdrie Road and south of the Luggie Water.

These plans were first aired more than a year ago, in a move that sparked fury from so-called Fight For The Fields campaigners.

It should be stressed that no planning application has yet been submitted for this development

However, the proposals have already been subject of a stormy meeting at the MacAuley Halls in Condorrat , which was attended by Councillor Paddy Hogg.

Councillor Hogg said: “This was obviously to get feedback and there was not one person at the meeting in favour of this development.

“I’d say ‘watch this space’ because Condorrat residents don’t lay down to developers.”

Meanwhile, it’s also emerged that the former Royal Bank of Scotland premises in Cumbernauld Village could also be the site of a new development.

For an application to see the baronial-style Baird House turned into a house with two additional flats has now been submitted to North Lanarkshire Council’s planning department at Fleming House.
