The grant has been made to Clydesdale Community Initiatives, which describes itself as a “social enterprise”, company employing folk with special needs to carry out worthwhile projects.

Probably its best-known achievments to date have been the refurbishment of Carluke’s Market Square and the creation of the Sensory Garden near Lanark Racecourse.

One of its very first projects a decade ago was the creation of the Wallace ‘nature’ garden at the edge of Delves Park in Lanark.

Now it has over 60 people –including 20 direct employees – working on a wide range of useful local initiatives including some of the work towards the rebirth of Lanark’s Castlebank Park.
